BOXING HISTORY

By Buko
Who doesn't LOVE Boxing?

Boxing becomes one of the most celebrated sports of our time.
The history of boxing shows us that it is basically the same as it was first introduced.
Boxing started way back from North Africa 4000 BC. Another place that participated in this sport was the Mediterranean 1500 BC.
The first documented boxing fight was in Greece 900 BC, when a ruler find it entertaining watching 2 men beat each other. The ruler a man named Thesus, allowed boxing to continue until one of the opponents was killed.
The history of boxing also tells us that the difference of early boxing from today's boxing was the boxers attire and the safety equipment required today.
Early boxer wore nothin except for the pads on their arms and unpadded gloves. Boxing was one of the Olympic Sports. The competitors wore clothing but instead of gloves their hands were covered with leather straps to protect them from injury. In 1681 London, the first bare knuckled fight was fought, this is very similar to first occored fight in Greece, no protection for the boxers. This continued for many years and in 1743 the first set of documented rules were introduced. This was done mainly to prevent the deaths occured during the matches.
In reality, no matter what we say people gamble in any form and in any way, and one of them is boxing, we do not just watch to know who will win but we also place a wager to the one we think is the best boxer.
